Welcome to the world

                of spraypaint art.

Different from the traditional 
forms of art such as oil, water-color or acrylic painting, spraypainting brings to the table a novel and unique way of painting.  From its early and crude beginnings as common street-art graffiti, spraypainting is now expanding and is fully being explored as a true and innovative form of art.

 

Painting dimensions are standard to fit most traditional-sized picture frames.  The painting sizes are (in inches) :

11x17, 11x14,  8 1/2x11 and 5x7

You can also find a line of 5x7 greeting cards here.  Featuring original hand-painted pieces and prints on the outside of the cards, and blank on the inside for your own personal message. And, they make great little paintings that can be framed
and placed anywhere in the home.

     While vacationing in Mexico we came across a local street artist demonstrating this unique art form.  Sitting on the ground on a large piece of tarp, he proceeded to spraypaint beautiful space-scenes of planets, stars and moons.  Then with some simple templates, he would create Aztec jungles with ancient Mayan pyramids rising above the trees with a full moon floating above them.

     Using no paint brushes, and nothing more than simple cans of spraypaint, a few small pieces of sponges and a pallet knife, he would produce beautiful works of art right there in front of the vacationers.  I quickly became intrigued with this distinctive style of painting and decided to begin exploring the techniques of this type of art for myself.  Studying different spraypaint artists, I slowly began to see, and became quite excited about, all of the different possibilities and types of scenes that could be produced by simple cans of spraypaint.

     What I find most intriguing about this style of

painting is the complete “serendipity” about the whole process.  I can paint 5 paintings of the “same” subject matter or scene and no two paintings will ever come out completely the same.  You just never know for sure how the spray is going to come out of the can and hit the surface.  Each painting is therefore unique and one-of-a-kind!

     In my own art background, I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Whitewater, Wisconsin.  I studied traditional oil and acrylic painting, drawing, art history and commercial art.  Through the years I have held many different positions in the commercial art arena all centered around layout and design ­- from newspaper and magazine ads to projects including newsletters, flyers, designing letterheads, business cards, logos, commercial films and fashion.
     After many years of traditional commercial art, I find it’s fun and exciting to be “getting my hands dirty” and painting once again.  With every day that passes by, I continue to experiment and learn more and more about this distinctive style of art.
